Carbon Ocean Yachts is excited to announce two major milestone achievements in construction of the Class 40 Longbow at our Bristol, RI, based facility.
In early April, the hull was successfully released from her female carbon mould. Click here to watch the video of the hull release shot by Billy Black’s team!
The hull topsides are laminated with blue texalium and will receive a tinted clear Awlgrip finish.
On Friday, May 1, the deck was fit to the hull. Bristol based Hall Spars continues work on the rig which is also nearing completion.
Longbow is an Owen Clarke design, with composites engineering provided by Pure Design & Engineering.
The project, which began construction in September 2015, is scheduled to be in the water and sailing this June. Commissioning, launch and sea trials will take place at Newport Shipyard.
“This has been an extremely fun project from the very beginning. The owner and his team had a very clear vision of what they wanted in a Class 40 and assembled a great team to achieve their goals. The yacht features some new ideas for the class in both design and construction, some of which are visible and others which may not be visible. We look forward to fully unveiling her in Newport this upcoming June,”- Britt
